Rare steel sculpture by Dusan Dzamonja, manufactered by Alessi d’Apres in 1974. Signed and stamped ‘DZAMONJA/ADM240’ beneath the base. The stainless steel plates can rotate, for a different result every time.
Dusan Dzamonja (1928-2009) was a Yugoslav sculptor and a member of the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts. His artwork has left a permanent mark on the monumental architecture of Yugoslavia. Dzamonja was born in Strumica, Macedonia. In 1945 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (professors Vanja Radaush, Fran Krshinic). In 1951, he got a Master’s degree in sculpture with Professor Anthony Augustinic. In 1953 he started working in his own studio. Since 1970 he had a workshop at Vrsar (Istria) and in 1987 he moved to Brussels, Belgium. Since then he lived in Brussels, Vrsar, and Zagreb.
