Black-Stained Wooden Sculpture by Cor Dam – Abstract Modernist Art

This elegant black-stained wooden sculpture by Dutch artist Cor Dam is a striking example of modernist abstract sculpture. Hand-carved from solid wood and finished in a rich matte black, the artwork captures a unique balance between strength and fluidity. The wood appears almost pliable—folded and shaped as if it were a soft material—challenging the viewer’s expectations of its natural rigidity.

With its smooth curves, sharp edges, and sculptural folds, the piece draws attention to the contrast between organic movement and geometric structure. As light shifts across the surface, it reveals the depth, texture, and craftsmanship that define Cor Dam’s sculptural style.
